Are you a beginner Fiverr seller who’s struggling to get orders?
You’re not the first of your kind.
Hundreds of freelancers signup for Fiverr every day, but most of them don’t even make a penny from the platform.
But luckily, I’m an exception to this situation.
With more than 25 reviews within my gigs, I recently managed to achieve the status of seller level 1 making more than 700$ in the process.
If you want to achieve the same level of success from Fiverr, I suggest you read through this article and implement everything I’ve suggested.
Here are 5 helpful and actionable tips for success on Fiverr:
Add a video to your Gig
Adding a video to your gig works wonders in more than one way.
Less than 5% of Fiverr freelancers have a gig video and having one yourself will give you a competitive edge over the other sellers.
There have been multiple studies backing the claim that videos increase conversions and sales, in fact, 83% of people who ever purchased something online saw a corresponding video before making the purchase.
Fiverr themselves recommend adding a video to your gigs stating that it increases user engagement by over 40%.
Most Fiverr sellers who added a gig video saw an instant increase in gig impressions and clicks.
What this translates into, is more orders and ultimately more money.
Now I know creating an engaging gig video is easier said than done. Many sellers including myself have had trouble creating a professional gig video to place within their gig. That’s why I recommend that you outsource your gig video to a professional. Hafiz is a professional video editor who helped me create my own gig video. Order his services now for just 40$ and get a flat 20% discount on your order by signing up to Fiverr from this link.
Research your Niche
The second step to be more successful on Fiverr is to research your niche.
The primary purpose here is to determine the competition levels within the various subcategories of your general gig.
The logic behind this is that certain sub-niches within a general service category have low levels of competition as compared to the general category. Targeting these sub-niches will help increase your chances of getting orders.
An easy way to do this is to use the Fiverr search tool to search for all the possible subcategories within your general gig category.
Let me give you a quick example of how this would work, imagine you are a web designer and are looking to start a web design gig.
If you put in website design to the search bar, you’ll see a wide list of people offering the web design service.
Now the main things to look for are the number of sellers selling these gigs and the number of reviews on the actual gigs.
This would give you a brief overview of how much competition you’d face when selling this gig and how much demand these kinds of services have.
When you check for the competition you can see that over 72,00 sellers are currently targeting the word website design in their search.
This competition level is hard to beat if you’ve got a lower level profile with fewer reviews.
That’s not all, have a view of the number of reviews for the gigs that rank for this keyword.
Almost all of them have above 500 reviews.
This shows that the demand for these services is high even though the competition levels are high as well.
Now let’s do some brainstorming.
Imagine you’re searching for website design services; think about all the possible search terms or acronym phrases you would use in order to find a web design-related service.
An example of this would be “web design”, “site design”, “internet site design”, “internet design”, “e-commerce design” etc
Now put down each and every one of these in the search bar and check their competition level(number of sellers selling them) and demand. (number of reviews top gig have)
Done that? Now let’s take it one step further.
Imagine topics related to web design that you are capable of performing as a designer. Topics such as website migration. product page design, domain integration, and put them into the search bar.
Now review each and every one of these as well.
A low level of competition anywhere from 100 sellers to 7,000 sellers is ideal, while a decent number of reviews for the top gigs to have is 30-1,000 reviews.
Now filter out every keyphrase that has high competition or low demand (according to the criteria set above). And then simply target the ones that have a decent demand and low levels of competition.
The point here is to manipulate your gig profile to show up whenever a Fiverr user puts in your target keyword within the search bar.
The tips described within this step are best used in conjunction with gig SEO. Implementing gig SEO helps you target keywords within your gig profile and helps you show up for these keywords. I have discussed gig SEO briefly in the later parts of this post. Don’t forget to read it out before leaving the article. Get your first review quick
Now that that’s done, let’s get into the third tip to Fiverr success.
The third tip is more of a tactical approach to Fiverr success.
This involves getting your first gig reviewed as quickly as possible.
A gig review is a feedback you receive after you successfully complete a client’s work on Fiverr.
This feedback is rated through a star system that goes along with an adjoining written testimonial.
Getting a high number of positive reviews is instrumental to helping you become a successful Fiverr seller.
Reviews are so important that almost 80% of all people who use freelance platforms claimed to read previous customer feedback before placing an order with a seller.
Getting your first review quick entices the algorithm to expose your services to more people.
If you get your first review quickly you have a higher likelihood of getting Fiverr’s “rising talent” tag.
The “Rising talent” tag is given to new sellers that exceed expectations with performance.
Sellers appointed to the rising talent rank often report a significant jump in overall gig impressions and clicks.
This can be attributed to the Fiverr algorithm favoring your gig profile for the time you hold a rising talent tag.
When you are selected to Fiverr’s rising talent list you’ll receive a congratulatory email.
Though there aren’t any set criteria for getting any of the Fiverr badges here is a list of things that might help:
- Keep a 100% response rate
- Maintain 5.0 overall review rating
- Lower your average response time to atleast 2 hours

Engage in buyer requests
Buyer requests are special requests from buyers that show up within the buyer request feed.
Freelancers can respond to these buyer requests with their proposals and if the buyers like their proposal they will initiate an order with them.
Buyer requests are great for new sellers to get projects when they don’t have enough exposure in the Fiverr marketplace.
Fiverr typically allows only 10 buyer request proposals to be sent out a day.
So be sure to use them wisely and not spend them unnecessarily.
Buyer requests often devalue gigs by putting extremely low budgets for jobs that require a lot of time and effort. If you come across such buyer requests be sure to not send proposals or engage with them.
Implement Gig SEO
A continuation to tip 2 of the list, Gig SEO is the actual method by which you’ll make use of the data you gathered during gig research.
Implementing gig SEO will help you actually rank for the keywords that you identify during your research session.
In order to implement gig SEO, you need to fill in the target keywords to some strategic places within your gig profile.
Some of the places where Fiverr recommends you add your keywords include places like your gig title, gig description, gig profile, profile description.
Once you implement Gig SEO you will have a higher likelihood of ranking for the target keyword you choose.
Download the Fiverr app
Downloading the Fiverr app is helpful primarily because it helps you respond to customers quickly.
Response time seems to have a significant impact on your overall gig rankings.
So downloading the Fiverr app would help you mitigate the risk of losing out on response time.
Also when you receive Fiverr notifications directly to your phone you are much less likely to miss out on buyer messages.
The Fiverr app is compatible with both IOS and android devices, though you will require 82 MB of free space to install the app.
Learn how to retain customers
The last step of Fiverr success is to learn how to retain your existing customers.
Once a buyer orders services from you they have a high likelihood of ordering again if you provide them with quality services.
This quality not only depends on the overall quality of your gig product but also on how you communicate with the buyer and micromanage everything.
Recently Fiverr has been seen rewarding sellers that have a significant amount of repeat buyers.
Sellers with the People keep coming back tag, experienced higher gig rankings and
